How to get cheap data bundles in Nigeria

The cheapest bundle isn’t always the one with the lowest price. Here’s how to get more data for your money.

Updated 29 October 2026

1. Compare the price per GB

Divide the price by the number of gigabytes. A monthly plan that costs more up front is often much cheaper per GB than buying small daily bundles again and again.

2. Match the validity to how you use data

If you use a lot of data every day, a 30-day plan usually gives the best value. If you only need data now and then, a short plan stops you paying for data that expires unused.

3. Watch out for auto-renewal

Some plans bought directly from a network renew automatically from your airtime. Check your subscription settings with your network so you aren’t charged when you don’t expect it.

4. Use Wi-Fi for big downloads

App updates, videos and backups use the most data. Set them to Wi-Fi only on your phone.

5. Compare networks

Prices differ between MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile, and they change from time to time. If you have more than one SIM, compare plans before you buy.
